Germany, Ireland, Italy, the U.K., and the Netherlands went one step further. They backed the concept of introducing a range of targeted sanctions, which would vary depending on the offense such as “violations against transparency” or “fair taxation.”
The mismatch that emerged in national positions was met with concern from German MEP Fabio De Masi, who functions as vice chair of the European Parliament’s Panama Papers inquiry. “A common minimum standard and voluntary additional measures by member states are simply not good enough,” he said. “It’ll create a patchwork full of loopholes, similar to what we have now.” […]“

Es impresionante, señalan, cómo los gobiernos de la UE hacen declaraciones públicas en favor de una reforma integral y coordinada de la normativa tributaria internacional pero hacen luego otra cosa en privado.
No resulta por tanto sorprendente que el también eurodiputado alemán Fabio de Masi, del partido alemán Die Linke (La Izquierda), se muestre de lo más escéptico sobre la posibilidad de que alguno de los paraísos fiscales de relieve acabe un día en la lista negra. […]“
